Windell Leon Jolley, 82, passed away on June 4, 2012, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. He will be laid to rest on June 25, 2012, at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Ala.
Mr. Jolley was born April 19, 1929, in Albertville, Ala., and had been a resident of Gadsden and Albertville. He graduated from Gadsden High School in 1948 and received his bachelor's degree from Jacksonville State University and master's degree from the University of Alabama. He served as an officer in Korea with the 82nd Airborne and the Army Reserves, attaining the rank of Captain. Mr. Jolley worked at Fort McClellan, Big Oak Boys Ranch, Thirteenth Place, and was in private practice as a family counselor. He was a longtime member of Rainbow Presbyterian Church, where he was ordained a deacon. Mr. Jolley served his generation working as a chaplain to VFW and American Legion members.
Mr. Jolley had a great love for music and enjoyed singing solo or with a group. He requested Amazing Grace be sung at his service.
Mr. Jolley was preceded in death by parents, Icel and Arthur Jolley.
He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Kimberly Renee Pearson (Paul), of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Harley and Kaelin Pearson of Gadsden; sister, Brenda Chambliss (Oyette) of Auburn, Ala., and other family and very special friends.
