The funeral service for Mrs. Ruel Imogene 'Jean' Gray Bryant, 86, of Hokes Bluff, will be Friday, June 22, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Crestwood Funeral Home with burial at Crestwood Cemetery. Mrs. Bryant died suddenly at home Monday, June 18. Minister Jimmy Simmons of the Glencoe Church of Christ will officiate. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct services.
Mrs. Bryant was born Sept. 23, 1925, in Pleasant Site, Franklin County, Ala., and later moved to the Gadsden area, where she graduated from Glencoe High School. She retired from the Goodyear Distribution Center in 1987 after 42 years of service and was a longtime member of the Glencoe Church of Christ. She married Ben Hill Bryant Jr. on June 21, 1946, and they were married more than 65 years when he died March 16.
Mrs. Bryant also was preceded in death by her parents, Pinkney Philo and Eula Burton Denton Gray; sister, Allene Gray Parnell; and brothers, Terrell Hoyt and Brodie Lansing Gray.
She is survived by nieces, Joy Gray Griffin, Albany, Ga., Kaye Parnell Stoneking, Knoxville, Tenn., Edwina Parnell Whitehead, Mount Airy, N.C., Brenda Gray Amberson, Nashville, Tenn., Cheryl Gray Amberson, Gadsden; and nephew, Toby Kim Parnell, Sunnyvale, Calif.
Memorials may be made to the Glencoe Church of Christ, 1318 Taylor Road, Glencoe, AL 35905.
Visitation will be Friday at noon at the funeral home.
