Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel for Billy Ray Morris, 90, of Gadsden, who died June 21, 2012, at Gadsden Health Care surrounded by family. Minister Kevin Skelton will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Chapel is in charge.
Mr. Morris was a graduate of Hokes Bluff High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a member of Fairview Road Church of Christ. He retired from Merita Bakery as a sales manager. He was a member of Runt's Coffee Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Jefferson and Beulah Marker Morris; five brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Morris; daughter, Judy Vaughn; son, Billy Morris Jr. (Gina); stepson, Fred Hobart; grandchildren, Krystal Williamson, Keith Williamson, Jeffrey Morris (Tiffany), Justin Mayo (Jessica); eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, George (Mary) Morris; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Rex Chapman, Johnny Hale, Ronnie Holloway, Bill Long, Jimmy May and Wayne Peterson.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Gadsden Health & Rehab Center, Fairview Road Church of Christ and Dr. Steve Sanders.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
