Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2012, for Mr. Emery "M.B." Gilliland, 80, of Steele, who went to be with his Lord on June 21, 2012. The Revs. Jim McCord and Gerald Deweese will officiate the service. Burial to follow at Chandler Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directing.
Mr. Gilliland was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Deweese Gilliland; parents, Lonnie and Lora Gilliland; and brothers, Ray, Wayne and Joe Gilliland.
M.B. leaves behind to cherish his memory, sons, Rodney Gilliland (wife, Tonya) Gallant, Rickey Gilliland, Steele, Randy Gilliland (wife, Wanda), Gadsden, Ronnie Gilliland (wife, Tammy) Rainbow City; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Deweese, Linda Gilliland; brother-in-law, Bob Deweese (wife, Martha); grandchildren, Justin (Carol) Gilliland, Kayla (Chance) Alford, Emily (Vince) Starling, Zach (Mary Beth) Gilliland, Matt Gilliland, Allyson Gilliland; great-grandchildren, DeLaney and Elizabeth Gilliland, Adalyn Starling; special friend and companion, Meldie Boggs and family.
Pallbearers will be Justin Gilliland, Zach Gilliland, Matt Gilliland, Chance Alford, Vince Starling, Daniel Boggs.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Amedisys Hospice Services, nurse Jan Hooks, aide May Smith and Chaplain Matt Rose.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Morgan Funeral Chapel.
