Martha Hazel Childs Bice, born March 21, 1921, went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, June 24, 2012.
Mrs. Bice was our loving and most devoted mom, granny and friend. She humbly shared her faith in God through her daily life and example. We will miss her presence with us but know that she will be forever in our hearts as she rejoices in Heaven with her two Bills.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, William R. Bice, and her precious son, Garth Bice; parents, Wilburn Sim and Temperance Childs; sisters, Irma Hood, Irda Knight, Ruth Lamberth; and brother, Ted Childs; and by her devoted friend. Dot Teague.
She leaves behind her children, Tom and Ann Bice and Larry and Marty Jackson; her precious grandchildren, Tom and Michelle Bice, Tim and Melissa Marmitt, Michael and Susan Gottlieb, Keith and Molly Bice, Todd and Tonya Bice, Michael and Christy Gattis, Matt and Leslie Jackson. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren who gave her great joy; and her baby brother, Hugh Childs and Dollie Childs. She also leaves behind her precious caregiver, Carolyn Bates; her church family and friends of White Springs Baptist Church; the devoted staff of Gadsden Health Care; and her MANNA friends. Our family will forever be thankful for your loving care.
Pallbearers will be Reggie Arledge, Larry Keenum, Matt Mabrey, Bobby McCartney, Chilton Teague and Judson Hamilton. Honorary pallbearers will be all grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. today at Williams Southside Funeral Home, with the funeral at noon. Dr. Michael Yopp and Matt Mabrey will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to White Springs Baptist Church.
