Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Oak Grove Baptist Church for Billy Clayton Parker, 78, of the Oak Grove community, who went home to be with his Lord on June 24, 2012. Ministers will be Rev. Rick Luallen and Rev. Jeff Read. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home is in charge.
Mr. Parker was a successful businessman. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He belonged to the Gadsden Shriners and Duke Masonic Lodge. He was also a member and supporter of Alexandria Sportsman Club for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Parker; sisters, Ruth Farrington and Faye Heath; sister-in-law, Doris Jean (Donald) Burgess; a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and special loved ones, Janice Whiteside, Mark Farrington and Junior Johnson.
Pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Alexandria Sportsman Club or Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Special thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
