Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2012, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church for Mrs. Amanda Ruth Williams, 93, Attalla, who died Saturday, June 23, 2012. Pastor Harold Kimble will officiate. Burial will be in Rainbow Memorial Park. Watson & Sons Funeral Home is directing.
Mrs. Amanda Ruth Freeman Graves Williams was born April 3, 1919, in Equality, Ala., to the union of the late George and Sarah Freeman. She accepted Christ at the age of 12 and was baptized at the New Home Baptist Church in Coosa County, Ala. In moving to Attalla, Ala., she was employed with the George P. Walker Sr. family and later for the Frank Shephard family. She joined Mt. Calvary and later united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Williams.
She leaves behind to cherish happy memories, three nieces, Jacqueline Swain, Detroit, Mich., Deborah Hightower Robinson, Mason, Ohio, Linda Ruth Hightower Davis, Cincinnati, Ohio; two nephews, Willie Frank Hightower, Gadsden, George J. Freeman, Bucheon, Korea; special daughter, Darleen Graves, Attalla; special children, the Walker family; stepchildren, the Williams, and a host of great-nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Visitation will be from noon until the hour of service.
