Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Edgewood Church for Mrs. Ellen "Ruth" Sizemore Hammonds, 72. Dr. Bill Snow and the Rev. Mike Hammonds will officiate. Mrs. Hammonds will lie in state one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Forrest Cemetery in Gadsden.
Mrs. Hammonds passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, at her residence.
Mrs. Hammonds is survived by her husband, Tommy Hammonds; daughter, Kala (Steven) Waits; son, Michael (Kelli) Sizemore; stepsons, Wayne (Chris) Hammonds, Todd Hammonds and Byram (Staci) Hammonds; brother, Vernon Hoge; brother-in-law, Buddy Shields; grandchildren, Jared and Carlee Waits of Oxford, Micah and Jaxson Sizemore, Eoin Hammonds, and Michael Todd Hammonds; great- grandchild, Bailee Hammonds; several nieces and nephews; and chosen daughters, Donna Wilson, Susan Tankersley and Carol Thrasher.
Pallbearers will be Vic Tankersley, Carl Wilson, Sammy Watts, Micah Sizemore, Marvin Junior, Michael Todd Hammonds, Jared Waits, Stan Cassidy and Johnny Sizemore.
Mrs. Hammonds was a native of Gadsden, where she attended Emma Sansom High School. She was a member of Edgewood Church.
Mrs. Hammonds was preceded in death by her late husband, George Sizemore; and sister, Lorene Shields.
A special thanks to Dr. Charlie Lattuada and staff; Dr. James Robinson and staff; and the staff of Alacare Home Health and Hospice.
