Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Morgan Funeral Chapel for J.H. "Sonny" Williams, 71, Altoona, who went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2012. The Rev. Harold Coe and Earl Dunn will officiate. Burial will be in Altoona-Walnut Grove Cemetery. Morgan Funeral Chapel and Crematory directing.
Sonny was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, and was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. with 38 years of service. He was also a retired farmer. Sonny was a native of Blount County and a member of the First Baptist Church of Altoona. He was an avid Alabama football fan and loved Southern gospel music.
Survivors: son, Michael Williams, Altoona; ex-wife, Wanda, Nixon's Chapel; nephew, Steve (Ginger) McNair, and their son, Jared, Glencoe.
Pallbearers: Shun Dillard, Buck Kilgore, Steve McNair, Sylvester Cattling, Jared McNair and Danny Tidwell.
Honorary pallbearers: Jack Gibbons and Clyde Jenkins.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening and from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan Funeral Chapel.
