Minnie Ruth Bynum Means, 86, passed away July 10, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. The Rev. Anthony Copeland will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Lookout Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. prior to service. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
She was a native of Altoona and a resident of the Gadsden area for over 80 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Paschal Means; her parents; brothers and sisters; and her great-granddaughter, Grace Ann.
She is survived by her sons, Edward (Gail) Means of Springville, Kenneth (Rebecca) Means of Hokes Bluff, and Cecil Means of Fort Myers Beach, Fla.; daughters, Patsy (Rick) Simpson of Lexington, S.C., Sandra Parker of Norfolk, Va., and Sheila (Kyle) Minyard of Rainbow City; 16 grandchildren, Matt (Kay), Josh, Jason (Christi), Jon, Charlie, Alexandra and Mellisa Means, Amanda (David) Willingham, Candy (Alex) Vaughan, Greg Simpson, Amy Armstrong, Deanna (Ryan) Stratton, Kristin Parker, Chris and Callie Minyard, Katie (Jeremy) Hulsey; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special relatives; cousin and best friend, Rosamond Adams; and sister-in-law, Hildia Bynum.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
