Funeral will be held on Monday at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Terry Paul Stanfield, 61, who went to be with our Lord on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012. Brother David Dunn and Brother Jack Bearden will officiate.
The Guest Book is expired.
Terry was born on July 17, 1951, in Gadsden. He graduated from Southside High School in 1969 and received a degree from Alabama Trade School in architectural drafting in 1971.
He was preceded in death his parents, Paul "Pete" and Hazel Stanfield; brothers, Robert Stanfield and Rex Stanfield; sister, Betty Sue Stanfield Smith.
He was married to Teresa Diane Johnson Stanfield for over 40 years. You never saw one without the other. They were the perfect example of true love. They lived each day to the fullest. They knew how to make each other laugh, and that was the most important thing in their marriage.
Terry retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber after 38 years of service just a few years ago, and all of his friends knew him as "Bird." He had a beautiful voice. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle with Teresa and they enjoyed traveling. Most restaurants knew them by name. They would find their favorites and end up best friends with the staff. Terry will be remembered most of all for his laughter. He was a very kind and loving friend with a huge heart. He will be missed by all who ever came into contact with him. We all know that Terry never met a stranger.
He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Johnson Stanfield; their son, Brandon Paul Stanfield (Rachel); grandsons, Jackson Stanfield and Parker Stanfield; brothers, Woodrow Rowan Celeste, Gadsden, R.T. Stanfield, Gary Stanfield, Alma Stanfield, all of Georgia.
Pallbearers are David Allred, Randy Nichols, Jimmy Chapman, Russ Gunnells, Rick Clifton, Winston Johnson, Doc Holiday, Allen Champion and Bo Evans.
Honorary pallbearers include Ernie Broom, Jackie Baker, Phillip Williams, Mark Bradley and a host of all nephews and brothers-in-law, as well as friends of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
The viewing will be held at Collier-Butler starting at 11 a.m. with the funeral directly following at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Southside.
A special thanks to the city Glencoe Police and Fire Departments, Gadsden Regional Medical Center staff and UAB Trauma Unit.
