Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crestwood Chapel for Lucius Hall Nickels, 87, Gadsden, who went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, March 15, 2013. The Revs. Daniel Barkley and Matt Rose will officiate. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Nickels was a lifelong member of the Gadsden Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was an elder, served on the Building Committee and oversaw many building projects at the church. Mr. Nickels retired in 1985 from LTV Steel. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Nickels; parents, James Nickels and Vera Hall Hanna; sister, Margaret (Bill) Boone; brother-in-law, Ernest Akers; daughter-in-law, Debbie Watkins Nickels, Dot (R.A.) Dorough, Mary Anna (Clyde) Elliot, Robert (Ruth) Lancaster and J.T. Lancaster.
Mr. Nickels is survived by his sons, Ronald and Randy Nickels; daughter, Judy Nickels; grandson, Cory Nickels; brother, Tommy (Pat) Nickels; sister, Betty Akers; brother-in-law, Richard (Sarah) Lancaster; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special friends include: Bill and Maxine Smith, Paul Campbell, Hershel "Butch" Tanner and Paulette Self.
Pallbearers will be David Smith, Lanny Lancaster, Alan "Smokey" Lancaster, Jimmy Elliot, Chris Bobo and Will Johnson.
