Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Collier-Butler Chapel for Roy Herman Johnson, 84, who passed away Monday, July 22, 2013, after a long illness. Darin Garrison, the Rev. Tommy Ballew, Pastor Dr. Tommy Ferguson and Dr. Michael Yopp will officiate. Burial will be at Williams-Southside Memorial Park. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Johnson was born in the Egypt Community. He was a Korean War Veteran and served his country proudly. He was a member of Goodyear Heights Baptist Church. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. warehouse after 37½ years of service. He served as a bi-vocational minister and pastored eight churches in three different counties. He was the son of Forney and Minnie Johnson and was the oldest of seven living children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers, Delbert, Billy, Troy, Travis; and a sister, Faye Harp. He was also preceded in death by two nephews and the love of his life, his first wife of 50 years, Ruth Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Pauline Garrison Johnson; daughters, Donna (Kenny) Sims, and Lisa (Keith) Wickham; grandchildren, Mandy (Jamie) Courington, Scott (Heather) Coley, Haley (Chris) Williams and Bailey Garrett; great-grandchildren, Sydnee Courington, Cooper Coley, Luke Williams and (arriving in October) Camden Williams; stepsons, Master Sergant Darin (Connie) Garrison and Tracy (Apryl) Garrison; stepgrandchildren, Matthew (Kasie) Garrison, Andrew (Kelsey Eidson) Garrison, Paige, Heather, Meagan and Rebekah Garrison; chosen granddaughter, Miranda Robinson; and great-granddaughter (arriving in August) Emma Garrison; sister, Judy Robertson, and a host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be the men from Goodyear Heights Baptist Church and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Drs. Kwan, Kwang, Urbina, Warren and Gandhi.
The family will accept friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
