Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel for Troy Edwin Gibson Jr., 76, of Rainbow City, who passed away March 16, 2014. Bro. Rodney Pritchett, Bro. David Roberts and Bro. Jim Browning will officiate. Burial will follow at William-Southside Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home & Cemetery is in charge of services.

Mr. Gibson was a native of Odenville, but was raised in Glencoe. He graduated from Glencoe High School in 1956 and went on to attend Gadsden State and Jacksonville University. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Old Harmony Baptist Church. Troy was supervisor of ID Precision, General Time and was employed with Mid South Electronics for 23 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Troy E. Gibson Sr.; mother, Ophelia Gibson Lovell; first wife, Gail Butler Gibson; brother, Charles Roland Gibson; stepson, Jeffrey Gray; half-brother, Phillip Lovell; chosen parents; Raymond and Mattie Lee Scott; chosen brother; Donald Scott, and beloved pet cat, Sally.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Otwell Gibson; daughter, Kristi Gibson Combs; sisters, Patricia Gibson (Bud) Goss, Jenny Gibson (Sonny) Stanley; brother, Jimmy T. (Pat) Gibson; stepsons, Lamar, John and Chris Gray, and Greg and Terry Elliott; and his beloved pets, Amy Grace and Molly.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Cosby, Richard Davis, Ray Scott, Lamar, Chris and John Gray.
Honorary pallbearers will be: the Weaver family, employees at Mid South, Ed Scarlardt, Tom Vorwald, Sam Smith, Roger Pendley, Verbon Thompson and Dave Rickles.
Special thanks to Dr. J. Robinson, Dr. Heslin, Dr. Wood, Dr. Mu, Dr. Ayers, Lawley Hospice, Bro. Dave Roberts, Glenda, Barbie, Scottie and Bridgett.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Etowah County Humane Society, 4200 Brooke Ave., Rainbow City, 35906, in honor of Amy Grace.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
