John Truman Foshee Sr., or Truman as most people called him, was born in Douglas, Ala., on June 23, 1921. He was 92 years old.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Adams Brown Service Chapel with Bro. Morris Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Douglas Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughter, Ann Foshee of Douglas; sister, Sue Ross of Douglas; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Jane Carroll of Trussville. Truman had four grandsons and two granddaughters, Chad (Amanda) Cox, Alan (Holly) Cox, Scott Foshee, John Foshee III, Alesa Foshee and Samantha (William) Amerson. Truman had three nieces, nine nephews and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mildred Carroll Foshee; son, John Foshee Jr.; parents, Albert and Angie Foshee; and brother, Harold Foshee.
After attending Snead State for two years, Truman served our country during WWII by enlisting in the Navy as a Naval Aviator in 1942. Truman attained the rank of Lieutenant JG as a bomber pilot with Bombing Squadron 87 on the carrier USS Ticonderoga in the Pacific Ocean. After WWII, Truman was discharged from the Navy and joined the Naval Air Reserve out of Birmingham. Truman worked for Ralston-Purina for 28 years before retiring and starting a motorcycle/lawmower/small engine shop called Albertville Cycle, which he owned and operated until 2012.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
