Richard Charles Olson "Doc", 76, of Gadsden, Ala., died on Friday, May 2, 2014, at his residence in Gadsden.
He was born September 21, 1937, to the late Howard R. and Mary Kathleen Olson of Wisconsin. He was retired from the U.S. Army of 23 years. He served in Korea, Germany and a combat tour in Vietnam as a Combat Medic.
Survivors includes his wife, Viva Olson; daughters, Marsha (John Wick) Wise, Shannon (David) Loyd and Vivian Hicks; brothers, Dennis (Linda) Olson of Kansas and Harvey (Donna) Olson; sisters, Lois (Larry) Larson and Marcia (Dennis) Olson of Wisconsin; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Williams Southside Funeral Home, 1009 Alabama Highway 77, Southside, AL 35907 with the Pastor Johnny Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Rainbow Memorial Park, Rainbow City, Ala.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to time of service Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Williams Southside Funeral Home.
