Cryptside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at Forrest Mausoleum for George H. Keenum Jr., 90, of Rainbow City (formerly of Southside), who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014. The Rev. Joey Jones will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Keenum was born and raised in Southside and graduated from Southside High School. He served in World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired as an electrician from LTV Steel. Mr. Keenum was a member of First Baptist Church of Southside, where he was an active member of his Sunday School class. He was also a Mason and an avid Alabama fan. He was a very kind, loving and generous man, giving of his time to help anyone who needed assistance.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Colvin Keenum; parents, George Horace and Ester Keenum Sr.; brothers, E.P. Keenum and Curtis Keenum; and sisters, Mary Emma Vowell and Helen Fowler.
He survived by special nieces, Debbie (Layne) Raley, Jennifer Bladorn and Loren Bladorn (James) Wood; special nephew, Jimmy Keenum; many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and longtime friends, Bobby West and A.C. Boyd.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Southside, 2560 Mountain View Drive, Southside, AL 35907.

There will be no visitation.
