Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Chapel for Anthony E. Maddox, 50, Glencoe, who passed away June 11, 2009. The Rev. Craig Thompson will officiate. Burial will follow at Union No. 3 Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Chapel is in charge.

Mr. Maddox was a 1976 graduate of Glencoe High School. He was a Christian and attended Church of God of Prophecy. He was retired from the Anniston and Glencoe Fire Departments as a firefighter and paramedic. He worked as a paramedic with Ambulance Service Inc. He finished concrete with his dad at M&M Concrete from the time he was 5 years old. He was a devoted and generous person who was always ready to help anybody at any time. He was a member of Red Knights Motorcycle Club and the Retired Old Men's Eating Out Club (ROMEO) at Hokes Bluff Jack's.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Winnie Fred Maddox; and grandparents, William Grover and Leoma Luella Maddox, and Lester (Bunk) Griffin and Inez Griffin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Dana Wagnon Maddox; sons, Mark Anthony Maddox (Stephanie McCutchen) and Robert Allan Maddox (Lisa Pruitt); father, Ellis Maddox; sisters, Kathy (Johnny) Thompson, Darlene (Nick) White and Freida (Craig) Thompson; father- and mother-in-law, Corbett and Zell Wagnon; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Pete and Donna Wagnon and Tina Wagnon and Mike Wagnon; special nieces and nephews, Adam, Eric and Bradley Thompson, Reed (Mary) Naylor V, Robyn (Eric) Hill, Elise, Katie, Sara and Nicole Wagnon; and special cousins, Debbie Elrod, Kay Burns and Mike Ashley.

Pallbearers will be members of the Glencoe and Anniston Fire Departments.

Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Harbin, Terry Lay, Greg Gowens, Jack Lay, David Dobbs, Ricky Akridge, Ray Thacker, Clyde Naylor and David Waters.

Special thanks to GRMC ER doctors, nurses and staff and co-workers at Anniston and Glencoe Fire Departments.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
