He is survived by his gracious wife, Frances Johnson Powell; brother, Arno Powell (Sybil); children, Debra Powell Cross (Bob Cross), Raymond Wayne Powell, Kay Powell Brown (Gary Brown), Donna Powell Smith (Duane Smith); grandchildren, Amy Cross Duffey (Sam Duffey), Stacy Cross Moore (Bryant Moore), Jeremy Brown, Breann Smith, Leslie Smith, Jason Smith, Devin Powell; great-grandchild, Olivia Ann Duffey; stepchildren, Roy Mitchell Johnson, Jeffery Johnson (Leigh), Debra Thim (Eric); step-grandchildren, Jacqueline Hale, Holly Johnson, Andrew Thim, Matthew Thim, Tanner Putman; step-great-grandchildren, Maleah Johnson, Jada Douglas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Attalla van ministry.
Special thanks to New Beacon Hospice, Gadsden Health Care and Dr. Courtney Lowe.
Anyone who knew him knew what a great faith he had in Jesus Christ. While the family is saddened, we know he is home, and this verse makes us think of him: "My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever." Psalm 73:26.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.
