Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2012, at James Memorial Baptist Church for Billy Lindsey Kidd Jr., born April 30, 1946, of Gadsden, who passed on to be with the Lord on May 1, 2012. Bro. Mike Allums will officiate. Burial will follow in Tate's Chapel Cemetery, Centre. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Kidd attended Gadsden High School and graduated from Gaston High School in 1965. He played football at both schools. He served his country in the United States Air Force, Airman 3rd class.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Lindsey Kidd Sr. and Audrey Maxine Goss Kidd; sister, Glenda Kidd Knowles; and grandson, Brenten Alexander Miller.
He is survived by his six beautiful daughters, Tina Kidd (Randy) Harbin, Lisa Kidd (Dan) Carpenter, Lana Kidd Ramsey (Shane Stephens), Melinda Kidd Skipper (Dewayne), Billie Lindsey "BL" Kidd Veal (Newman), Jennifer Kidd Veal (Jimmy), and their mothers, Janie Kidd Crabtree and Alice Kidd Toney; grandchildren, Cody and Miranda Harbin, Breanna (David) Miller, Austin Woods and Kaylee Carpenter, Tyler and Allie Harden, Hunter Armstrong, Nicole and Destinee Skipper, Wesley, Lindsey and Cameron Veal, Jordan and Jaylyn Veal; sisters, Betty Jean Kidd (Ted) Williams, Bobbi Jo Kidd (David) Matthews, and Carol Kidd (Jack) Joy; much beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and staff and residents of the Baptist Retirement Village and the congregation of the James Memorial Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be sons-in-law.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Gregory Batson and the staff of Veterans of America Medical Clinic; the staff of Gadsden Regional Medical Center, ER and seventh floor; Dr. Debora Reiland, Dr. V. Tummala and Dr. Scott Harrison.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to James Memorial Baptist Church in Billy's memory.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
