Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Village Chapel for Mitchel "Avery" Thrasher, 71, Altoona, who died Sept. 4, 2012. Bros. Raymond Bowman, Jerry Owens and Wayne Milam will officiate. Burial will take place at Mt. Olive Baptist Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thrasher was a graduate of the University of Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchel Avery Thrasher Sr. and Artie Mae Thrasher; brother, Bill Thrasher; and sisters, Vivian Harris, Willie Jean Thrasher, Myrl Dean Collier and Odessa Roberson.
He is survived by his family, friends and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Campbell; and all former students and teachers.
Special thanks to the Egypt Fire Department and Yowe.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
