Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Morgan Funeral Chapel for Carl Wilson O'Donnell, 91, Glencoe, who died Jan. 26, 2013. The Rev. Jimmy Harrison will officiate. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Morgan Funeral Chapel and Crematory directing.
Mr. O'Donnell was a member of Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church for 21 years, where he was a deacon, choir director and Sunday School teacher. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. O'Donnell was preceded in death by two wives, Zelma Wilson O'Donnell and Dee Porter O'Donnell; parents, Daniel and Irma O'Donnell; six brothers and one sister.
Survivors: wife, Ruth O'Donnell, Glencoe; sons, Royce (Susan) O'Donnell, Birmingham, Glenn (Linda) O'Donnell, Calera, Randy (Marilyn) O'Donnell, Jacksonville; stepsons, Michael O'Donnell, Marion, Ill., Steve Porter, Morris; stepdaughter, Aloma (Jimmy) Marker, Hokes Bluff; granddaughters, Kaitlin Graves, Renee Key, Shea O'Donnell; grandson, Daniel O'Donnell; great-granddaughter, Maggie Graves; great-grandsons, Maddox and Miller Graves, Ethan, Evan, Jonathan Donovan Key; brothers, Marvin (Evelyn) O'Donnell, Huntsville, Seldon (Doris) O'Donnell, Ashville; 12 stepgrandchildren; host of other relatives and friends.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morgan Funeral Chapel.
