James Preston Harris, 83, Steele (Chandler Mt.) went to be with God on Saturday, Feb. 16.

Mr. Harris served in the Korean War from February 1952 to November 1953. He was honorably discharged with the following medals, badges and certificates: Expert Badges H-I Good Conduct Badges, Markmanship Badge, TIS Drug Medical, Good Leadership Badge, Medic Badge, KOM W/3 with KOM W4/3 with KOM W4/3. He also served eight years in the Army Reserve.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucy Jackson and Taylor Harris; sisters, Betty Harris Whitt, Maimi Harris Marooney and Mary Ann Harris Lee; brothers, Ralph Harris and Billy Joe Harris; nephew, Roger Hopkins.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Faye Harris; children, Dale Harris, Robby (Tracy) Harris, Betty (Jesus) Ortega, Angie Harris, Clint (Pam Browning) Harris and Bobbi (Travis) Mizell; grandchildren, AJ Harris, Daniel Harris, Jeremiah Harris, Waylon Harris, JJ Ortega, Jacob Harris and Charity Harris; brother, Ray Harris.

Memorial service will be held at Chandler Mt. Baptist Church Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at 6 p.m. Directed by Bro. Ricky Smith.
