Donnie Lee Barksdale, 59, of Attalla, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, after a long, six-year battle with cancer.

Donnie was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, son-in-law, friend and grandfather. He was a kind and considerate man who never met a stranger and would help anyone with anything.
Donnie was a 1971 graduate of Collinsville High School. He was a carpenter and jack-of-all trades. His grandchildren were the joy of his life. Donnie was loved by many and will be missed greatly. But we know he has a better home in Heaven and won't have to suffer any more.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, W.C. and Sue Barksdale; father-in-law, Aaron McClendon; brother-in-law and friend, Dennis Willis; and great-nephew, Dylan Plunkett.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patsy Barksdale; son, Matthew (Tiffany) Barksdale; daughter, Misty Barksdale (Calvin); mother-in-law, Joyce (Warren) Wheeler; his beloved grandchildren, Josh Carstarphen, Kennedy Barksdale, Laila Mostiller; soon-to-be-granddaughter, Rayleigh Barksdale; and chosen granddaughter, Keyyissa Mostiller. Also his brothers, Garry (Donna) Barksdale, Steve (Kelly) Barksdale; sister, Brenda Willis; nephews, Keith (Nicki) Barksdale, Nathan (Thereasa) Willis; nieces, Melissa, Natasha and Brittany Barksdale. Also survived by best friends, Wade Higginbotham and Johnny Barkley.
