Edison Sharpe Obituary

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Southside Baptist Church for Mr. Edison Lamar Sharpe, 66, Southside, who went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016. The Rev. Matt Wethington will officiate. Burial will be at Williams Southside Cemetery. Williams Southside Funeral Home will direct.
Mr. Sharpe was a member of Southside Baptist Church, served in the 225th Combat Communication Squadron in the Alabama Air National Guard, enjoyed officiating softball and football for many years and was an avid Auburn fan. He was a loving son, husband, father, Papa and friend and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank E. and Ileana E. Sharpe, and his wife, Julia A. Sharpe.
He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Dana "Meme" Sharpe; loving sons and daughters-in-law, Geoff and Tanya Sharpe, Charles and Amber Sharpe, Jason and Stacie Causey and Taylor Causey and his girlfriend, Alexis Wallace; grandchildren, Lexie, Kyleigh, Spencer and Tatum Sharpe; Hylan and Kaylee Higdon; his faithful friends, David and Kathy Rice; and his beloved Boston Terrier, Bo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church in his honor.
Pallbearers will be Ritchie Patterson, Mark Yancey, Luke Armstrong, Johnny Brewer, Kevin Stephens, Danny Garnett and Tom Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Johnny Brewer Sunday School Class at Southside Baptist Church.
Special thanks to the Southside Fire Department and medics, the Johnny Brewer Sunday School Class, the nurses and staff at Riverview Regional Medical Center's CCU and to Dr. B.J. Patel and staff.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Friday at Southside Baptist Church.
