Adam Anthony Tardo, 96, resident of La Crosse, Florida, died Thursday, November 22, 2012 in the North Florida Rehab and Specialty Care Center.
Mr. Tardo was born January 22, 1916 in Lafourche, Louisiana, and was the last surviving sibling of 18 brothers and sisters. He spent many years in the U.S. Navy, serving proudly in both World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Tardo retired from the Navy as a Boatswains Mate Chief, and began a career as a marine cargo specialist for the federal government in Norfolk, Virginia. He moved in 1989 to La Crosse, Florida, along with his late wife, Helen Tardo. Mr. Tardo enjoyed bowling and attended the New
Jerusalem Full Gospel Church in Worthington Springs. He was also preceded in death by one son, Paul Tardo in 2009.
Survivors include one daughter, Ginnan Olmstead, of La Crosse; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Jean Tardo, of Springfield, MO; three grandchildren, Dawn Marie Olmstead, of La Crosse, Timothy Adam Tardo, of Springfield, MO and Nathan Paul Tardo, of Jackson, MS; one great grandson, Aden Rain Olmstead, of La Crosse.
Funeral services with military honors will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 2:00 P.M., in the Chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville with Rev. Roseanna Barnett officiating. Interment will be held in Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to www.moxafrica.org., an organization working together to treat patients with intractable tuberculosis in Af-rica.

My neighbor since I moved to north Florida. Tar always gave me a smile and warm greeting when I visited. I will miss you, dear one, and know you are finally home with the God you so love.

Adam,thank you for sharing your life with me. I always looked forward to your stories and your gentle soul. I will miss you but will smile when I think of you. You were an amazing person and thank you for considering me a friend. Peace my friend. Dawn, thank you for taking such good care of him these last several years. I know it was not an easy job the last year, but I know Adam appreciated it, I know I certainly did. Love ya.
