Gainesville - Marjorie Lucille Aaron Hillis, 82, longtime resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Thursday, March 28, 2013 in the E.T. York Hospice Care Center, following a long illness.
Mrs. Hillis was born in El Centro, California on November 6, 1930 to the late Reuben Monroe and Ola Oran Aaron. She graduated from the Mercy College of Nursing, and was a registered nurse for over 50 years, 37 years of which was at the infirmary at the University of Florida. Mrs. Hillis enjoyed crossword puzzles, Miniature Schnauzers and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Brent Hillis in 2001 and Marc Hillis in 2012 and by her siblings, Calvin, Jack (Roland), Fran and Charles.
She is survived by her children, Jeff (Marge) Hillis of Coral Springs, and Chris (Russell) Takashima, of Orlando; grandchildren, John and Michael Takashima, and Jacob, Sam, Dan and Hannah Hillis.
A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 1:00 P.M., in the Chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606.

Jeff and Chris Marie, I loved your mother. She was such an inspiration to me especially in later years. Her pickles still leave my mouth watering and because of her I took up knitting, although I could never get to her level. I still remember her laugh and her easy manner. I miss her. Silly me, I just looked her up to see if she was still alive only to discover a condolence window.
