ALICE MILLER Obituary

MILLER, ALICE M., 92

Gainesville - Alice M. Miller, age 92, of Gainesville, Florida passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was born June 11, 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio to Leon and Leah Marie Ledogar Hauger.

She met and married her husband of 68 years, Albert B. Miller, during WWII when she was a Marine and he was a Navy officer. After the war, she accompanied him on his tour of duty as a foreign service officer in Thessaloniki, Greece. She traveled with him extensively throughout Europe and other parts of the world. Upon their return to the United States, she provided continuing support to her husband's business career and became an accomplished hostess of innumerable dinner parties. She was an artist of substantial ability, and a passionate bridge player.

She is survived by her husband, also of Gainesville, FL; daughter, Kerry Miller Bartlett of Marietta, GA; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. One of her great-grandchildren, Gavin Bartlett, has cystic fibrosis, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of his great-grandmother to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation via Gavin's page at:

We were deeply saddened to hear about Alice. She and Bert were close friends during our Sugarmill days. We have fond memories of enjoying many dinners, golf, bridge games with them. We well remember how she surprised us with a pen and ink drawing of our Sugarmill Woods home for our 40th anniversary. That drawing hangs in a prominent place in our present home 15 years later. Our thoughts and prayers are for Bert and family.

My darling Alice will be missed and I am sad with her passing. She was such a dear person and so thoughtful. What a great lady and her husband was the nicest person you ever would want to meet. I will miss her emails as I just sent her one not knowing she is with God. God bless Bert and her dear family. She will always be in my heart.

Alice was an avid, as well as a wonderful. bridge player. I have enjoyed her company at the bridge table for many years. She had a good sense of humor and will be sadly missed by her many friends
