MARKHAM, MARK  
MARKHAM, MARK BROWARD, 53 Gainesville - Mark Markham a native of Gainesville, FL passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 23, 2015 after battling Melanoma. Mark graduated from Eastside High School and worked Publix for 20 years before he retired. In Mark's free time his passion was being a volunteer Firefighter for the town of Micanopy Station No.26. Mark was a loving gentle soul who touched many lives with his gentleness. He is survived by his parents Bill and Dot Markham as well as three younger brothers Gregg, Todd (Mary), and Joe (Melissa) as well as five nephews, Brent, Tyler, Cameron, Delaney, and Jacob, and one niece, Malia. May you forever be joined in fellowship with your Nana Markham. Celebration of life will take place August 29th, 2015 at Todd and Mary's House 1512 S.E. 5th Ave, Melrose, FL 32666 from 4-7pm

McCallister, Wilbur Wayne "Mac" - Williston, FL  
McCALLISTER, WILBUR 'MAC' WAYNE, 76 Williston - Wilbur 'Mac' Wayne McCallister of Williston, Florida was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 76 on August 17, 2015 while at the Haven Hospice in Chiefland. He was born on November 19, 1938 to Willard Wayne and Hazel A. McCallister of Culloden, West Virginia. Mac is a veteran of the Korean War. He served proudly in the United States Army from 1955-1961. He was retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a Baptist by faith and member of the First Baptist Church of Archer. Mac was preceded in death by his father, Willard Wayne McCallister, mother, Hazel A. McCallister, wife of 52 years, Jacqueline Sue McCallister and two siblings James E. McCallister and Helen F. Price. He is survived by his wife of 2 precious years, Bonnie D. McCallister; daughter Mary Ann Sasser of Boaz, Alabama; son Walter 'Mac Jr' Wayne McCallister of Yankeetown, siblings Mary Ann Layne of Washington, West Virginia and Robert L. McCallister of Huntington, West Virginia, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. McCallister will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the Knauff Funeral Home Williston Chapel with Rev. Warren L. Gilpin officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors in Orange Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. McConnell, Ruth Ann  
McCONNELL, RUTH ANN, 73 Gainesville - Ruth Ann McConnell, age 73 of Gainesville, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015 in E.T. York Care Center from complications of cancer. She was born in Burlington, Wisconsin and spent most of her early childhood in the Reeseville-Clyman area. She attended and graduated high school in 1960 in Watertown, WI. From 1960 to 1961 Ruth attended the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, WI, and then University of Wisconsin in Platteville WI from 1961 to 1964. She graduated with a teaching degree in English/ Biology. Her first teaching position was in Menomonie, WI, teaching English from 1964 to 1966. She then went to Ft. Atkinson, WI and taught English from 1966 to 1969 and then on to Orlando, FL from 1970 to 1973 and finally to Gainesville, FL in 1973. In Gainesville she worked for Blue Cross/ Blue Shield as a customer service representative for 22 years and after promotion, head customer service representative. On November 28, 1964 she married Dennis B. McConnell in Menomonie, WI. Ruth loved to travel by automobile, planes, trains and in later years, cruise ships. Her travel destinations included Alaska, Austria, Canada, Costa Rico, Caribbean Islands, England, France, Greenland, Germany, Hawaii, Iceland, Ireland, Mexico, Panama, Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland. Ruth was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1973. She was involved in and enjoyed the Women's Bible Study Group and ALERT meetings. Ruth is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dennis B. McConnell; son, Michael B. McConnell; daughter, Sharon K. McCartney and four grandchildren, Tyler, Quinlan, Ariel and Dennis. A celebration of Ruth's life will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, with Dr. Dan Johnson officiating. MCCOY Jr., JAMES ALLAN "JIMMY"  
MCCOY, JR., JAMES ALLAN, 'JIMMY', 60 Melrose - Jimmy McCoy, age 60 of Melrose, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Florida. He was born in Gainesville, Florida on December 2, 1954. Jimmy owned and operated Jimmy Macs BBQ and Catering, where he was able to share his love of cooking. Jimmy was a friend to everyone he met, which is why everyone teased him about having his 'Bubbas'. He loved spending time with his family and friends, Gator football, riding his airboat in Suwannee, and fishing in his favorite holes. He is survived by his wife Laura M. McCoy, his mother Carole Brooks McCoy; his 3 children, Melissa 'Missy' McCoy Williams, Scarlett McCoy Moore and her husband Trey Moore, James McCoy III; grandson Seth Michael Williams; his sister Paige and brother-in-law Ray Graham and more buddies than we could list. The family asks that donations be made to Haven Hospice, in lieu of flowers, at 4200 NW 90th Blvd. Gainesville, FL 32606. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22,2015 at Eliam Baptist Church in Melrose at 4:30 pm.

Mitchell, Dr. David Anderson  
MITCHELL, 77 DAVID ANDERSON Dr. David Anderson Mitchell, age 77, of Monroe, GA. Previously of Gainesville, FL, passed away on August 21, 2015, from congestive heart failure. David was born January 1, 1938, in Potlatch, Idaho, to Robert Anderson Mitchell and Ethel Marian Reynolds. He was an only child. David grew up In Mosco Idaho, Tulare, CA, and Ellensburg, WA. He graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State University In 1964. Most of his career was spent as an administrator with the Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. He was the Veterinarian in Charge of Washington, Oregon and Alaska regarding importation and exportation of animals into and out of the state plus elimination- and/or control of cattle diseases, and then the AVIC of Florida until he retired in 1993. During his tenure with the USDA, he received many awards from the Secretary of Agriculture for his Federal service and accomplishments. He was Instrumental In the elimination of brucellosis in the state of Florida. He was also in charge of the task force in California for eliminating t e threat of Newcastle disease In chickens. He was one of two foreign animal disease diagnosticians in e' United States. David loved to tell stories of his life and adventures. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He was an avid fisherman, amateur ham radio operator, and, being a veterinarian, a lover of all animals. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Becky; children, Todd Mitchell (Theresa); Susan Riley (Jeff); grandchildren Brett Mitchell, Wheeler Mitchell and Becca Mitchell, and his faithful, loving Rat Terrier, Tilly. The service for David was held Monday, August 24, 2015, at 4:00-p.m. at Union Chapel Methodist Church, Pannel Rd., Monroe, GA, with Rev. Roger Canuel officiating. Burial took place after the service at Hill Haven Memorial Gardens, Monroe. Meadows Funeral Home, Monroe.

Mohammed, M. Hamdi A.  
MOHAMMED, DR. M. HAMDI A. Dr. M. Hamdi A. Mohammed (aka Hamdi Tahawi), known, as Hamdi, died in Gainesville Florida on August 13th 2015 of medical complications. Hamdi, a pioneer in Dental and Material Sciences, was awarded five US Patents, Published worldwide with over 180 scientific papers, was a Fellow, President and Board Member of various Scientific Organizations, and was Knighted by the Vatican for scientific contribution. Hamdi was born in a farming village 150 miles south of Cairo called 'Taha'. The family name, Al-Tahawi, dates back to an Ancestor, Imam Abu Jafar Al-Tahawi, that is a well known Islamic Scholar (Died: 321 AH / 933 AD) through his eponymous creed. Hamdi came to the U.S. as a result of a Government Program that annually sent 4-5 of the country's top University students to gather socially and economically critical skills. Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser personally awarded Hamdi his assignment. It was an auspicious start that continued into his career. While a Ph.D. candidate, he was awarded two US Patents and he later collected three more Patents and became the youngest Tenured Professor in the U.S. (at the University of Florida). Hamdi was awarded a D.D.S. from the University of Alexandria (Egypt), an M.Sc.D from Northwestern University, and a Ph.D. from The University of Michigan. Hamdi loved to play golf, watch ballet and opera, and play with his grandchildren. Hamdi is survived by his Wife Susan Tahawi, two children, and five grandchildren. Hamdi was buried at the Sakina Garden at Forest Meadows Cemetery at 4100 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville FL 32606.

MONTS, IRENE, 78 Irene Monts, age 78, formerly of Gainesville who lived in Jacksonville, Florida, Church Mother of Pleasanthill Missionary Baptist Church where she was also an Usher and Leader of the Intercessory Prayer went home to be with the Lord on August 8, 2015 during her stay at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida (Jacksonville, FL). Homegoing Services will be held 2:30PM Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Pleasanthill Missionary Baptist Church (Gainesville, FL) with her Pastor, Rev. Dr. Willie G. Mayberry, officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Mother Monts will only he viewed at the Church on Saturday with the Processional. The Procession will form at the home of her Cousin, Annie Mae Young, 2911 NE 10th Street, Gainesville, at 1:45PM. Cherishing her memory are: sons - Ozzie Lee Robinson of Miami, FL and Carl Lee Robinson of Gainesville, FL (& former daughter-in-law - Brenda K. Robinson of Gainesville, FL); daughter- Shirleen Myhand of Jacksonville, FL; 7 grands; 21 great grands; 6 great-great grands; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends (with a special friend - Barbara McCray of Gainesville, FL).
