HOOTEN, EVELYN LOUISE JOHNS, 89 Newberry - Evelyn Louise Johns Hooten, loving wife and mother, age 89 of Newberry, Florida, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015. She was born August 19, 1925 in Lakeland, Florida to Mathew Monroe Johns and Kate Atkinson Johns. Evelyn graduated from Gainesville High School. She worked as a telephone operator and she worked at the University of Florida Infirmary. She enjoyed sewing, growing her own garden and canning. She is survived by her husband, Roderick Hooten; daughter, Rhonda (Roger) Ehrig; sons, R. Lewis Hooten, Damon (Dana) Hooten and Gary Hooten; grandchildren, Arabella and Mathew. She was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Frances Owens, Betty Shearouse, Ernest Johns, Carlton Johns and Edward Johns. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at, Memorial Park Central Chapel 4100 NW 39th Avenue with Rev. Jennifer L. Sacks of Unity of Gainesville Church officiating. She's survived by 7 sons, Willie Nelson, John Purdy, Randolph Purdy, Barry Salley, Jamien Salley, Gerald Thompson, Jerard Thompson; siblings, Eddie C. Martin, Burnis E. Brown, Ola M. JONES, ALICE WALLACE, 74 Williston - Mrs. Alice Wallace Jones, 74 of Williston, Florida transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on February 24, 2015. She was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She leaves to forever hold her love, hugs and smiles in their hearts, 1 son, Ronald Wallace (Vivian) of Williston, FL; siblings, Raleigh Wallace, Jr. (Emily) of Williston, FL, Elihu Wallace (Laura) of Palmetto, FL, 3 grandchildren; Tori Jackson (Thomas), Ronald Wallace II (Starlette) and Dexter Wallace. The Homegoing Celebration will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church (21251 NE 40th Street) Williston, Florida. KING, DORIS ANN SANNI Gainesville - Doris Ann Sanni King, 65, resident of Gainesville, FL. since 1992, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2015 at Shands UF North Tower. She was a 1969 graduate of Gettysburg, PA Area High School. Parents Martin Lawrence Sanni and Mary Jane Reichstein-Sanni. She is survived by her husband, Charles Rodney King, USAF, who she traveled with for 22 years. She attended Miami Dade Community College Medical Assistance school, later working at Dr. Bradford and Dr. Calstone OBGYN in Kendall, FL. Doris Ann King worked as a Housing management officer in USAF assigning military families to their respective homes over seas. Ms. King also worked as an Office Manager for Darwin Chiropractic in Gainesville, FL. for 15 yrs. She is survived by two sons; Her son Jason King, his wife Judith King, their sons Mikijah King and Josiah King, and daughter Mylea King; Doris Ann King's youngest son Micheal King, his wife Alexis King, daughters Maniah King and Imani King. She is also survived by three brothers and two sisters. Dr. & Mrs. William Sanni of Ambler, PA.; Janette & Richard Trostel of Biglerville, PA.; Mike Sanni, Chambersbug, PA.; Tina & Richard Hilliard, Gainesville, Fl.; Mr. & Mrs. David Sanni, East Berlin, PA. Doris Ann King was a caring and loving person to her family as well as others in her community and very strong in her faith in God. McKAY, JOANN  
McKAY, JOANN JoAnn Condon White McKay died February 23 at Oak Hammock. Born November 11, 1930, in Miami, JoAnn attended Thomas Edison High School, then earned a B.S. with Honors in 1961 from the College of Nursing and the M.Ed. in 1964 from the University of Florida. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the Nursing Honor Society. JoAnn taught psychiatric nursing as an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and at two community colleges, Central Florida and San Mateo, California. She also was an in-service educator at numerous hospitals over a long career as a psychiatric nurse. After moving to California in 1974 and receiving California State certification as a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist, JoAnn practiced at a hospital in Oakland, California, and also had a part-time private practice. She was a member of the Transactional Analysis, Gestalt Therapy, and Group and Family Therapy associations. She also was published in The Nurse as a Family Therapist and the Transactional Analysis news. Central to JoAnn's life was meditation, the development of inner consciousness, and holistic health. She studied Eastern spirituality at the California Institute of Integral Studies in 1980, and spent six months at the Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry, India, in 1982. After retiring, JoAnn returned to Gainesville in 1999. She moved to Oak Hammock in 2014. JoAnn will be remembered for her strength, her intelligence, her lifelong support for civil rights, and her belief in the ability of the individual to improve and grow. She is survived by two daughters, Niccie McKay of Gainesville and Patricia Sipe McKay of Brisbane, Australia, by son-in-law Neil Sipe of Brisbane, by two granddaughters, Caroline and Catherine Sipe of Brisbane, and by one brother, Henry Clay White of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. JoAnn will be cremated, with no service or memorial, by her specific request. To honor her, please take a moment to think of her and to follow her advice to put kindness ahead of everything else. Melker, Rosalind Wolfe - Gainesville  
MELKER, ROSALIND WOLFE, 92 Rosalind Wolfe Melker, 92, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2015. She was born on February 2, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY to Sallie Avin Wolfe and Max Wolfe, the first of two daughters. Rosalind grew up in Brooklyn surrounded by a large extended family. She met her future husband, Irving David Melker and they were married October 11, 1942. After living briefly in Philadelphia during World War II and in Glen Oaks, NY after the war, she moved to Miami permanently in 1949. She resided in the Miami area most of her life, moving to Jacksonville in 2001 to be closer to her family. She lived at The Coves River Garden and was an active volunteer and well loved by her fellow residents. In 2013 she moved to the River Garden Hebrew Home. Rosalind is preceded in death by her sister Sybil Reich, her husband Irving, and her parents. She is survived by her daughter JoAnne Melker (Madison, WI), her son Richard and his wife Dorothy (Gainesville, FL), and her son Daniel and his wife Stephanie (Crystal Beach, FL). She had 4 grandchildren: Jeremy Melker (Amy), Scott Melker (Emalina), Erica Bellegarrigue (Roberto) and Kevin Melker. She had 4 great grandchildren, Jacob Evan and Wesley Ian (Jeremy and Amy) and Sydney and Davis (Erica and Roberto) and was excitedly awaiting the birth of another great granddaughter (to Scott and Emi) in March. Rosalind will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Funeral services will be held Graveside on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 1:30 PM at the Congregation B'nai Israel Cemetery in Gainesville, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations to River Garden Hebrew Home (11401 Old St. Augustine Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32258) or Congregation B'nai Israel Friendship Circle (3830 N.W. 16th Blvd. Gainesville, FL 32605) are requested. MOORE, EUNICE L., 63 Mrs. Eunice L. Moore, age 63, passed away February 10th, 2015 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Moore was a member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church. She was a graduate of Dunnellon High School, class of 1969, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Florida A&M University. Mrs. Moore also served in the United States Army from 1970 until 1972. Mott, Valair Dampier  
MOTT, VALAIR DAMPIER, 88 Gainesville, Florida - Mrs. Valair Dampier Mott, age 88, died Friday morning at E.T. York, Haven Hospice Care Center. Mrs. Mott was business partners with her husband, John H. Mott, who owned and operated Mott's Tire Service in Gainesville, FL. for more than 35 years. Valair was born in Clearwater, FL. to James C. and Jettie Willis Dampier. She was raised in La Crosse, FL. and graduated from Alachua High School and the University of Florida, where she received a Bachelor of Education degree. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville, the Esther Sunday School Class, the Alachua General Hospital Auxillary and the Gainesville Garden Club. She was also associated with the Antioch Baptist Church, where her father was a deacon for many years. Valair was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her beloved husband, John H. Mott, of Gainesville, Florida, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Valair was known for her elegant style, her hospitality and generosity, and her astute business sense. She was much loved and admired, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 A.M in the Antioch Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Antioch Cemetery, La Crosse, FL. NEMETH, ROBERT H., 75 Newberry - Robert H. Nemeth, age 75 of Newberry, Florida passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015. He was born December 5, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to Nicholas and Kathryn B. (Bigner) Nemeth. Robert served in the U.S. Navy as a SeaBee. He worked as a Design Engineer for 36 years in the auto industry. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Anita A. (Gallant) Nemeth; children, Michelle Mitchell of Warwick, RI; Christopher Nemeth and wife Michelle of Tampa, FL; Karen Clark and husband Stephen of Gainesville, FL; brother, Alan Nemeth of Wauconda, IL; sister, Barbara Nemeth of Port Richie, FL; grandchildren, Gene, Robert and Benjamin Mitchell, Justin and Emily Clark, and Grace Nemeth, plus one great granddaughter Lillie Belle Mitchell.
