BARBARA REEVES, 74

Barbara Reeves Menzies, age 74, passed away on Monday, April 7th, 2014 in Gainesville, Florida. She was born on September 6, 1939 in Gainesville, Florida to parents Rudolphus and Dorothy Chamberlin.

Barbara was a lifelong resident of Gainesville. While in high school she had her own radio show on her father's station, WGGG. Barbara graduated from Gainesville High School in 1957. She then attended college at the University of Florida before transferring to Florida State University, where she graduated in 1962 with a degree in home economics.

Well-known for her many years of service as a realtor in Gainesville, Barbara was a Broker/Salesman and Senior Vice President of Coldwell Banker - MM Parrish. Barbara loved working with people and her co-workers, whom she considered a part of her family. She served as President of the Gainesville/Alachua County Board of Realtors in 1997 and her passion for people kept her working actively until her retirement in December 2013.

Among her many interests, Barbara enjoyed traveling with her friends the "Steel Magnolias," scrapbooking, needlepoint, and cheering on both her beloved Florida State Seminoles and the Florida Gators. She also enjoyed her annual beach trips with her dear friend Rollene Dell. Barbara was a member of the Gainesville Country Club for over 40 years. She was also a member of Alpha Delta Pi, the Junior League of Gainesville, Gainesville Woman's Club, the Gainesville/Alachua County Association of Realtors, Rotary, and Trinity United Methodist Church.

Barbara is survived by her son Ken Reeves and wife Sonja of Gainesville, FL, sister Linda Reeves and husband Bob of Gainesville, FL, and grandchildren Rebecca and Nathan Reeves of Gainesville, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald Stuart Menzies, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 5:00p.m.- 7:00p.m. on Friday, April 11th at Milam Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12th, 2014 at Milam Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Meadows Central.
