BETTIE LATIMER KANE

Gainesville - Bettie Louise Latimer Kane passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014. She was born to Louie Frank Latimer and Louise Raulerson Latimer on February 16, 1933 in Bartow, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Louie Frank Latimer, Jr., and her husband Vincent John Kane.
She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Lea Beal; grandchildren, Gary Duane Watson, Daniel Louie Watson, his wife Kerie Marie Watson, Larry Edward Beal, Christina Theresa Goodwin, her husband Jason Goodwin; great-grandchildren, Kamerin Elijah Watson, Nicholas Lee Watson, Donivan James Watson; her sister Suzanne Latimer Dowling; her brother Bennett Thomas Latimer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bettie was a graduate of PK Yonge Laboratory School, at-tended the University of Florida, and graduated from Crawford W. Long School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA. She was a life member of Gainesville chapter No. 44 Order of the Eastern Star. She retired from the Alachua County Attorney's office after 22 years of service, and moved to St. Augustine where she was member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in St. Augustine, FL.Having enjoyed years living near the ocean she loved, she returned to Gainesville in 2005 after the death of her husband.
