Williston - Billy E. Butler of Williston Florida passed away Thursday, February 13th at Haven Hospice Care Center in Chief land following a lengthy illness he was 78.

Born in Cedar Key, Florida he came to Williston 41 years ago from Orlando. He proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Navy and was discharged in 1973. Following his retirement from the Navy he served the citizens of Levy County as County commissioner, then working for the Sheriff's Department for six years. He was employed by Florida Power at the nuclear plant at Crystal River, Fla. in construction for six years.

Billy was of the Baptist faith, he was a member of Ornan Masonic Lodge # 117 in Williston. He was an outdoors person, loved to hunt and fish but his top priority was spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his Father Burton Butler and his brother Johnny G. Butler.

Survivors are: mother, Flossie Geiger Butler; wife, Dorothy Marlene Butler; (2) sons Billy E. Butler Jr. (wife Annette), James G. Butler (wife Linda); (2) brothers: Jerry W. Butler (wife Sandra) Dale G. Butler (wife Joy); (6) grandchildren; (4) great-grandchildren.

A memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 22nd 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Knauff Funeral Home-Williston with Rev. Tony Clubb Officiating. Knauff Funeral Home-Williston in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Haven Hospice Care Center in Chief land, Florida.
