Celeste Chambers, age 82, left this world unexpectedly on October 14, 2013. She is survived by her sister Joyce Starling; brother Anthony Green; daughter Dani Villines Skaja; son-in-law John Skaja; granddaughter Dawn Blizzard; grandson Jay Villines; three great-granddaughters, Alelia, Airrean, and Zaynah Smith; many nieces and nephews, and a beloved companion of 20 years, James Broestler. Cece was born in Niagara Falls, NY, in 1931. She moved to Florida in the 1950s at the end of her career in burlesque. In Hialeah, FL, she started her second career in bartending, which she continued when she moved to Gainesville. She worked for the VFW Post 16 and the American Legion, where she served as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and for a brief time as the President of the Auxiliary. When she retired from bartending, CeCe continued to work part-time at Joann's Fabrics in Gainesville. She continued to pursue her passions, including music, sewing, reading, and spending time with her pets and family. She is truly loved and will be missed by those whose lives she has touched. Please join us in a Celebration of Life service on October 27, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the American Legion Hall, 4701 NW 6th Street, Gainesville, Florida 32609. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of live plants to create a Memory Garden in her honor.
