Gainesville - Mr. Clinton Emerson Dewhurst, 58, resident of Gainesville, died Monday, December 31, 2012, in the Shands Hospital, Gainesville, following a brief illness.

Mr. Dewhurst was a native of Miami, Florida, born October 5, 1954 to the late Donald Mathew and Betty Marie Dewhurst. He graduated from Hialeah High School and Miami-Dade Community College, where he also played on the basketball team. He began working for Delta Airlines, a career in customer service that lasted for over 30 years, many of those years in Orlando, and ending with his retirement in Jackson, Mississippi. Mr. Dewhurst loved all things sports, but especially enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Marie Dewhurst, of Gainesville; two daughters, Shanna Colletti, of Ponte Vedra Beach, and Tara (Richard) Young, of St. Augustine; one son, Christian Colletti, of Tampa; one brother, Henry (Myra) Dewhurst, of Miami; one sister, Donna (Doug) Brooks, of Duluth, Ga.; three grandsons, Camden Usry, Cash Young, and Christian Robert Colletti; three step grandchildren, Chloe, Cody and Caylee Hoover.

Memorial services will be conducted on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 2:00 P.M., in the Chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA, 424 East 92nd Street, New York, NY 10128.
