Gainesville - Thelma Vermelle Crenshaw, 91, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 in E.T. York Hospice Care Center.

She was born November 1, 1921 in Punta Gorda, FL to Fred Zacharias and Donnie May Cherry Sherouse. She retired from Woolworths and then opened a daycare in her home. Mrs. Crenshaw enjoyed Bingo, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Mrs. Crenshaw was preceded in death by her husband, James Clayton Crenshaw; sons, Kenneth Richard Crenshaw and Darrell Clayton Crenshaw; daughter, Jean Marie Crenshaw; son-in-law, Wayne Towns; sisters, Ruth, Carol and Wilma and brother, Larry.

She is survived by her children, Patsy Towns of Gainesville, FL, Connie (Vernon) Swilley of Alachua, FL, Donna Sue Crenshaw of Gainesville, FL, Danny (Nita) Crenshaw of Ft. White and Craig (Rhonda) Crenshaw of Chiefland, FL; brothers, Richard C. Sherouse and David F. Coleman; sister, Freddie Mae Smith, all of Ocala, FL; 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street, with Pastor Mark Swaizgood officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park East. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home.
