Gainesville - Curtis L. Bush, 70, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away in Gainesville on July 2, 2014. He was born June 20, 1944 in Jacksonville, FL to Charlie and Mildred Inez Bush. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, as a jet engine mechanic. He met his wife, Linda, in Arizona on April 6, 1964 and married her on May 30, 1964. They just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Curtis started Curtis Bush Auto Repair in 1967, and for 40 years worked as the owner and operator. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, friend and companion to all. He was a physical fitness enthusiast and enjoyed mowing and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed helping people, especially young people. He was a Youth Sunday School teacher for many years and a shining example of the love of Christ in his daily life. He loved helping and encouraging others!

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Bush; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Florine Bush; daughter and son-in-law, Barbra and Jeff Lightsey; his grandchildren, Clayton & Alyssa Bush, Kristin & Walt Theus, Emilie Bush, Zachary Lightsey and Cole Bush; great-granddaughter, Clara Faith Theus; brothers, Dewey, Gene and Jerry Bush, Jimmy Holloman; and sisters, Joann Starke and Barbra Morgan.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church of Alachua, 14805 NW 140th Street, Alachua, FL 32616. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Curtis' name to the First United Methodist Church of Alachua.
