HAYES, DOYLE HERBERT

Branford, FL - Doyle Herbert Hayes, 74, passed away, at home, on Thursday, January 17, 2013. He was born in Wahoo, FL on January 15, 1939 but grew up and resided in Gainesville, FL until 1990 at which time he moved to Branford, FL. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Branford, FL.

Doyle graduated from Gainesville High School and attended St. Petersburg Junior College. He worked for 32 years as a drafting engineer at the battery plant, better known as GE, in Alachua, FL. His work there impacted the US and commercial space programs. He was an avid Florida Gator fan and a Scout Master for Troop 81 in Gainesville for many years. He was awarded the Silver Beaver for his distinguished service to the North Florida Council and was elected as a Vigil Honor member in the Order of the Arrow. He loved to listen to music and loved Country-Western dancing in his younger days. He loved to tell jokes to make people laugh and always had one ready for the next person.

Doyle is survived by his wife of 23 years, JoAnn Bailey Hayes, two children, Kim L Hayes (Stina) of Riyahd, Saudi Arabia, Tammy Eddy (Hal) of Gainesville, FL; two step-children, Greg and Connie Odom of Branford, FL; two sisters: Jeweline Richardson, San Diego, Ca, Juana Jean Cowart, North Glen, Co; five grandchildren, Melissa Leone (Michael), Laura and Kyle Eddy, and Daniel and Kendall Barnes; two great-grandchildren, Devon and Christopher Leone.

A memorial service for Doyle will be held at First Baptist Church of Branford on Monday, January 28th at 2:00 P.M. Arrangements are in the care of Daniels Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. of Branford and Live Oak, FL.
