BOOTHBY. 1926-2012

Eleanor B. "Ellie" Chaires died on Thursday, December 6, 2012, surrounded by family members, at Wellington Regional Hospital in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Ellie was born on August 15, 1926 in Cedar Key, Florida. She attended and graduated from Florida State College for Women (now Florida State University) in 1948 with a degree in Education. In 1947, she married her husband of sixty two years, Henry A. Chaires, who passed away in 2009.

She lived most of her life in Florida and taught Junior High School English in Jacksonville and Orlando before retiring to "The Owl's Roost" on Little Orange Lake in Hawthorne, Florida. She was a very active and well-loved member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Melrose, Florida where she was known for her quick wit and generous spirit.

Ellie's passions included traveling the world, cooking and teaching her grandchildren everything from reading and writing to water skiing. In her later years she received much joy taking care of her beloved pet Schnauzer, Pepper.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Chaires; her son and daughter in law, Terry and Carol Chaires and her adored grandchildren, Christopher and Carrie Chaires.

A family memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Garden at a future date. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent in Ellie's name to Trinity Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 361, Melrose, FL 32666.
