Gainesville - Eleanor Chambless Hesser, age 87 of Gainesville, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 in E.T. York Hospice Care Center. She was born July 21, 1925 in Calumet City, IL to William Alexander and Thelma Hooper Williams Chambless. Mrs. Hesser worked at Gainesville Veteran's Administration in the medical records department. She was a founding member of Oak Hammock at the University of Florida as well as a member of the Panama Canal Society of Florida, McIntosh Garden Club and First Baptist Church of McIntosh. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edmond Hesser and brothers, Gaines Chambless and Leslie Warren Chambless.

She is survived by her daughters, Leslie Ann Hesser of Chattanooga, TN and Lynnette K. Hesser of Wellington, AL; sons, Dale Thomas Hesser of Wellington, FL and David Edmond Hesser of Rio Rancho, NM; brothers, Eugene Williams, Hershall Williams, Jack Williams, Wayne Williams and Frank Williams, all of MO; sister, Marion C. Lane of St. Petersburg, FL; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., in First Baptist Church of McIntosh, US 441 and F Street, with Rev. Larry Pearson and Rev. Kenneth Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in McIntosh Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make memorials to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606, Civitan, 1221 NW 13th Street Gainesville, FL 32606 or a service organization of your choice.
