Gainesville - Evelyn Lillian Reynolds Sebastian died on January 28, at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, FL. Born on September 5, 1919 in Washington, DC, she was 93 years old. Evelyn lived most of her life in Silver Spring, MD. She was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, where she also worked as a teacher's aide in the church's pre-school. She is predeceased by her husband Alvin Sebastian, and her brother Raymond Reynolds, Jr.
Following her husband's death, Evelyn moved to Gainesville to be near family. She volunteered for many years in the J.J. Finley Elementary School library and was honored as their Outstanding School Volunteer in 1990 and 1996. She also volunteered as a kindergarten "Rocking Reader" at Talbot Elementary School and was selected as their Outstanding School Volunteer in 1999. Evelyn was a member of University Lutheran Church and assisted in the church office every Friday until she was 90. She lived an active life with dear friends at the Village and for the past two years at the Rose Court.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter Sandra Reimer (Larry) of Gainesville, and her son Richard Sebastian (Pam) of Savannah; by her grandchildren Matt Reimer (Kathy) of Jacksonville, Chris Reimer (Morgan) of St. Augustine, and Sarah Farmer (Kevin) of Guyton, GA; and by her great-grandchildren Andrew Reimer, Delaney Reimer, Christian Couch, Cayden Couch, Carissa Reimer and Emma Farmer.
There will be a memorial service, with a reception following, at University Lutheran Church, 1826 W. University Ave at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 2. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Evelyn's memory to University Lutheran Church. These gifts will be used for the church office where Evelyn volunteered for so many years.
