Gainesville - Gertrude Garrett Barnes, age 96, Wife of the late Willie B. Barnes and faithful Member of Southeast Tenth Avenue Church of Christ, peacefully left us on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at North Florida Regional Medical Center.

The Homegoing Services will be held 10:30AM Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Southeast Tenth Avenue Church of Christ (Gainesville, FL) where Bro. Al Jackson is Pastor & Officiant, with her Grandson, Min. Kenneth Gaskins, delivering the Eulogy. Burial will follow at Grass Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Barnes will be viewed at the Funeral Home on Friday 2:00-7:00PM - At the Church on Saturday 30 Minutes prior to the Services - And with the Processional. The Procession will form at her residence, 1235 NE 20th Place, Gainesville, at 10:00AM.

Those left to cherish her precious memories are: children - Willie Mae Barnes and Tina Barnes Norris (who was also her Caretaker) of Gainesville, FL (Abraham "Sam" Barnes preceded her in death); 8 Grandchildren - Charles Murray and Min. Kenneth Gaskins (& Helen) of Gainesville, FL, DeWayne Barton (& Felicia) of Hawthorne, FL, Brenda Robinson, James Barton, Jr. (& Kim) and Donna Thompson (& Arthur) of Gainesville, FL Shakelia Barnes of Chattahoochee, FL and Catina Norris of Gainesville, FL; 20 great grandchildren; 22 great-great grands; nieces & nephews; cousins; & friends (including the entire family of Ann Ruffin and the late Dr. William C. Ruffin).
