STROH, HELEN M.
Gainesville - Helen M. Stroh, 81 of Gainesville, Fl. formerly of New City, NY passed away peacefully on November 29, 2012.
Helen was born on April 5, 1931 in New York City and lived in the Bronx. She graduated from James Monroe High School in 1949. In 1958, she moved to New City to raise her family. She worked for the New York Telephone Company, Sears, The United States Census Bureau and the Rockland County Sheriff Department as a radio dispatcher. After retirement, she split residences between New York and Florida. She moved permanently to Gainesville, Fl. in 2006. She was a resident of The Atrium and recently moved to The Village. Helen was an active participant in numerous groups and organizations wherever she lived.
Helen is predeceased by her husband Andrew Stroh. She is survived by her children Karen (Gary) Scheiffele of Gainesville, Fl, Jane (James) Porter of Voorheesville, NY and Andrew (Judy) Stroh of Shelburne, VT. She cherished her grandchildren Irene (John) Engelbrecht, Dianne Scheiffele, Matthew Porter and Travis Stroh. She is also survived by a sister Mary Shanahan and predeceased by a brother George Hannigan.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, December 8th at 10:00 am in The Chapel at The Village, 8000 NW 27th Blvd., Gainesville , Fl. 32606.
