James Melvin Eiland, 74 of Chiefland passed away on November 15, 2012 at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville. He was born on May 2, 1938 in Mississippi to B.B. and America Eiland. He married Betty Meeks Eiland in 1983. He lived in Chiefland and worked in sales and later retired from the Levy County School Board. He was a dedicated Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle. He loved the outdoors, working in his yard, and watching the Gators play.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Betty Meeks Eiland of Chiefland, and his three children, Mark (Donna) Eiland, Ricky (Elisha) Eiland, Debbie (Danny) Watson, Two stepchildren, Chuck (Rhonda) Cook, Kalyn Gay, six grandchildren, Kimber (Jarred) Snyder, James Eiland, Erin Eiland, Clayton Eiland, Clinton Bullard, Tymberlynn Watson, Six Step Grandchildren, Kyle (Jamie) Cook, Kasidy Cook, Keri Gay, Kendalyn Gay, Justin Lee, Trent Lee, three brothers, Jesse (Emma) Eiland, Carl (Susie) Eiland, Mike Eiland, two sisters, Odell Richardson, Marilyn (Gene) Coble. He was preceded in death by one brother, Murray Eiland and his parents, B.B. and America Eiland.

Visitation will be Monday, November 19, 2012 from 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home and Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bill Keith and Pastor Chuck Cook officiating.
