Newberry - John D. Carver, 81, of Newberry, FL passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at NFRMC in Gainesville, FL.

He was born June 10, 1931 in Baker, FL and moved to the Gainesville area 41 years ago from Bartow, FL. He was 1954 UF alumni, member of the Masonic Lodge, USAF veteran, retired USDA Rural Development (FMHA), former Board Member and Chairman Suwannee River Water Management, Alachua County Housing Authority Board Member and retired elder at Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ophelia Carver; sons David (Kay) Carver of Milledgeville, GA, Gary (Cheryl) Carver of Newberry, FL, and Tim (Michele) Carver of Orlando, FL; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and four sisters from the Pensacola, FL area; Mavis Garrett, Mazie Pearson, Sarah Allen, and Dosia Gilmore. John was predeceased by brother Ralph Carver.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, February 19 at Milam Funeral Home in Newberry, FL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Gainesville, FL with burial to follow at Fairfield Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Fairfield, FL.
