Lloyd Barrington "Barry" Baldwin, of Gainesville, died Thursday, October 4, 2012 in Banner Elk, NC.

He was born November 10, 1927 in West Palm Beach, FL. He graduated from Palm Beach High School, Palm Beach Junior College, Purdue University, and the University of Florida. He was a Licensed Agricultural Engineer, and retired from the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences after 20 years of service. He served in the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Barry enjoyed working on projects for his home and landscape in Gainesville, FL and spending time in the NC mountains during the summer months. He had many long time friends from his work and family life, which valued conversation with him on various topics. Barry contributed to many charitable organizations and cared deeply about helping others. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife Charlotte H. Baldwin, daughters Sorelle (John) Koch, Estero, FL and Cindy (George) Long, Ocala, FL, son Ben Baldwin, Gainesville, grandsons Andy and Daniel Long, Ocala FL, and cousin Lenore Gregor, Columbus, OH.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church on October 20th, at 2:00 PM. Please send donations to Habitat for Humanity of Alachua County in lieu of flowers.
