Lucinda Barber Jackson, 78, retired OR Technician passed away Dec. 20, 2012 at North Florida Rehabilitation and Specialty Care Center.

A Gainesville native she attended Florida A&M University, and received her nursing degree at Escambia College. She taught elementary education in Guam for a period of time and was a member of Springhill Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters Sharon Blackmon, & Charisse Jackson both of Gainesville, FL; one sister, Mary Ann Davis, (Cyrus R.) Gainesville, FL; two brothers Melvin Barber, (Mary) Quincy, FL., Alphonso Barber, Vacaville, CA and four grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jackson, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at Springhill Baptist Church with Rev. Adrian S. Taylor Pastor. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery under the care of Chestnut Funeral Home 18 N.W. 8th Ave. Gainesville, FL. Visitation Friday 2:00-7:00 PM and on Saturday at the church one hour before the service. The cortege will form at the home of her sister & brother-in-law Mary Ann & Cyrus Davis, 516 S.E. 12th Terrace Gainesville, FL, at 10:15 AM.
