Maria Oyenarte passed away February 22, 2013 at St. Catherine's Labour Manor in Jacksonville, Florida.

She was born June 16, 1922 in Argentina. She and her family moved to Gainesville from Argentina in 1956.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Everyone who met her felt like a life long friend with her sweet smile and welcoming personality.

She was extremely talented in all forms of sewing, knitting and crocheting. Her family and friends have her beautiful designs in their homes today. She received the US Navy Auxiliary Award many years for her gifts of baby blankets and lap throws for our military veterans and their children. She was "Nanny" to not only her grand and great grand children but to all children. Her loving manner made each child feel special.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro S. Oyenarte and her daughter, Alicia Inez Oyenarte. She is survived by her Gainesville family Mike (Carol); her grandchildren, Tony (Stacie), Brian, Bobby (Kelley) and great grandchildren, Natalie, Michael, Chase, Max and Avery Oyenarte. Her special family, Donna, John Petrillo and their families in Phoenix Arizona who loved her like their own Mother.

A celebration of her life will be held June 15, 2013 at Camp Crystal Lake from 11:00 to 1:00 PM, one day before her 91 birthday.

In lieu of flowers any one who wishes to may donate to the Camp Crystal Scholarship Fund.

Her memory will live on with children being able to attend summer camp at one of her most favorite places.
