Marion Leonard Gordy, age 95 of Gainesville, FL passed away on Monday December 3, 2012. He was born May 23, 1917 in Cusseta, GA to Curtis Lowe and Verna Gordy. He graduated from Gainesville High School. Second Lt. Gordy proudly served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII as a bombardier. His plane was shot down over Germany and he was taken prisoner, and interred in the same prison camp as his brother at Stalag LUFT III. He was a former owner of The Gordy Milling Company, then Gordy Transport trucking company, and currently the Gordy Apartment Buildings on NW 15th Street in Gainesville. Mr. Gordy was past president of the University City Lions Club, and the Santa Fe Endowment Corporation. He was also a former board member of Santa Fe College, and a member of the Has-Beens Club.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Molly Gordy, his brother Paul (Ann) Gordy, his daughters Elizabeth (Chuck) Coley, Linda (David) Barranti, and Sharon Burlison, three grandchildren Joseph Barranti, Molly (Matt) Jay, and Melissa (Mike) Leone, two great grandchildren Devon and Christopher, and his nephew Steve (Ruth) Gordy and niece Paula (Skip) Cook.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Milam Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 5, 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation C/O Gift Processing Center P O Box 5018 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
