Gainesville - Shirley Jean Nichols Elliott died on March 22 in Gainesville, FL. Born in Quincy, IL, on October 23, 1933, to Alva and Mary Nichols, she grew up in Ursa, IL. She was happily married to her own Prince Charming, Rev. Dr. Charles "Keith" Elliott for nearly 60 years. Shirley graduated from Eureka College, cum laude, in 1955. She taught English and Physical Education in Tennessee, Illinois, and Florida. She loved reading and playing tennis and golf. She was an active member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and was a dedicated Minister's Wife.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Terry Nichols, son David, daughter Sharon, and grandson Trey Soard. She is survived by husband Keith, daughters Teresa (Roy, JR) Soard and Mary Beth (Terry) Harper, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, three nieces, and many friends who love her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 6th at 2:00 at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 3411 NW 83rd St., Gainesville, FL 32606. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Keith and Shirley Elliott Endowment Fund at the Christian Church Foundation, P.O. Box 1986, Indianapolis, IN 46206.
